Kamisama no Kago wo Kyohishitara?! Chapter 396

396 Simple and Clean is Important

I took a bundle of rope out of my magic bag and started tying up the nearest bandit.
They didn't try to resist, some briefly yelped when I got close but I ignored those and finished tying them up no problem.
There were five of them. The rest of the bandits had been turned into indescribable lumps of meats in pools of blood.

There were only around 30 people that attempted to gang up on me. They were a small time band of bandits at only 50 people strong.

"Hm? That's all of you huh. You guys are the last then. Any regret? Done praying to your god? Well then, you can now curse yourself on your trip to the afterlife."

Utterly terrified by my words, the man who had been casting healing magic fell on his knees prostrating while trembling furiously and begged for his life.

"Sp-! Spare me! Don't kill me! I was threatened by these guys, I've never killed anyone. I-I only obeyed them because I didn't want to die! F-forgive me! Let me live!"

That's a pretty common story. Bandits capturing someone useful and having them work under them.
This mage man healed the boss's arm.
Users of healing magic like him must be in high demand.

"Fine, I'll have you put on a collar later. Declare that you wish to be a slave yourself, and work the rest of your life in a clinic."

The mage had a mixed look of despair and relief at my demand.
Apparently clinics in this world are akin to a humanitarian effort where people who work there are paid not unlike volunteers.
I have never been in one. I only found out about this after leaving the village.
From overhearing some guests while having a meal in an inn.
But it was the bandit boss who got mad at this.

"Who died and made you the boss! I'mma beat the crap outta ya!"

I was a bit taken aback at this bandit boss's refusal to look at reality, but it seemed he was getting deranged as his eyes turned bloodshot.

"In the end, you simply can't accept reality and refuse to see the enormous gap in our powers due to your hubris."

"Shut your trap! You're! Gonna! Die here! And now!"

Apparently his bloodshot eyes weren't only because he was getting frenzied.
The boss's body swelled up, transforming into a two meter tall giant.

"Fuhahahaha! See this! My trump card! Physical boost! With drug! And this traitorous sorcerer's! Buff magic! I'm the strongest in the world! I'm invincible! The power of this great meeee! Second to none in this world, I'm unbeatableeeeeee!"

I didn't pay any heed to all the noise.
Something else piqued my interest. He must have the buff cast on him during the third time he got his arm healed.

(There's plenty of ways to call people who use magic huh. Even though it's all inherently the same thing.)

Mages, sorcerers, wizards, those are some examples in fantasy work. Wonder how many of them are applicable in this world.
Perhaps it depends on the local customs where those people live.

As my mind was preoccupied with that completely useless trivia the bandit boss seemed sure of his victory.
<TLN: Catch the latest updates and edits at Sousetsuka .com >
"What got into ya!? Terrified of this great me's figure? But it's far too late to beg mercy! Fearing this power that'd even break the kingdom's hero in half is a natural response, but the only thing that awaits you now is death! How dare ya kill my lackeys I painstakingly gathered! I'mma make a mince meat outta you!"

He swung his arm up and then down toward me. This guy seemed to believe I was paralyzed by fear when I fell silence from pondering that trivial stuff.
Still ignoring him, my mind wandered off again.

(Break the hero in half eh. Somehow I just can't picture that though? This guy's got the beefy looks sure, but I just don't sense him being that strong.)

That was my impression as someone who had seen Hero Zordak before.
This was all due to my lack of mana, a fact I was unaware of at this point.
To people of this world who do possess mana, the pressure they felt from this bandit boss was such that his words sounded plausible.
The healer mage, sorcerer? fell on his rear at the pressure emanating from the bandit boss in front of him, his bottom scraped the ground as he desperately tried to move backward and get away.

(His mind must be in chaos from this world's lack of unified name for magic users.)

Perhaps both names work just fine, but having a unified one is ideal, I truly feel that.
Meanwhile, the swinging fist aimed at me is moving in super slow motion.

I'm using a different stage of Acceleration where everything doesn't stop for once.

(I'll stop thinking if I get used to that. Mustn't turn all brawl no brain.)

Now I'm coming up with a good way to give this bandit boss a lesson.

Skill? Nee yo Sonnamon! Chapter 124

Hunting Fest (1) Happening During the First Tens of Minutes

Participants and staff members have started making their way to Monster Prairie.
As I'm in charge of Yellow and Orange Areas unlike other staff, I've decided to fly there and watch the situation below.
Can't believe how hard they're making me work just because I can get around, wish it was just Orange area.

The hunt is already on in Green Area. The participant icons on my Map are moving around all over the place.
Guess it starts early since it's closer. At this rate, the hunt in Yellow Area should start in around 30 minutes.

Reina is hunting in Pea Green Area.
I was hoping she'd take on the safer Green Area instead, but she was planning to use this chance as a test for her ability as well, so she wasn't receptive of the idea. Just don't overdo it.
Eh, am I one to talk when I usually work her hard? You're exactly right, sorry.

Alma has chosen to play it safe and is hunting in Yellow Area.
That area is recommended for those over Lv30 but she should be fine considering how her fight with boss wolf the other day went down.
She should be able to easily handle magic beasts invading from Orange Area even.

...What'd be more troublesome is if beasts from Red Area invaded Orange Area.
Red Area magic beasts are at least Lv40, some may be over Lv50 even.
There's no way I can deal with one such beasts alone... Well I guess I can probably manage if I go at it like my life's on the line, but it's too much.
I'm gonna get the hell out if things look dicey, or ask for Alma's help.

Oh, Pea Green Area's started, faster than anticipated.
I see Reina and the green haired boy among all the icons on my Map. Their levels are both on the lower side compared to other participants, do your best you two.
Reina is steadily but surely making her way toward where the magic beasts are while conserving her energy.
Her Icon changed to 'State: Shadow Diving' when she got close to a magic beast.
Not long after, the beast's Icon turned to 'State: Dead' before disappearing.
...She's already killed one in just a few minutes. Reina might very well take the top spot in Pea Green Area.

Participants can store bodies of defeated magic beasts in the item bag the guild provided.
The guild will purchase all the collected mats but apparently you can also choose to keep what you want later.
By the way, you're gonna have to reimburse a hefty sum if the Item Bag gets damaged or lost... Reina handle it with care, seriously.

Now then, the hunt in Yellow Area is about to begin as well.
Mwu? ...Someone's getting awfully close to Alma, wait, it's that Willclause blue guy.
What, is he accusing her of something again? Give it a rest already. I'm worried Alma might snap and hit him hard. Who cares about Blue though.
The hunt there kicked off with a signal while I was lost in thought. Immediately after, Alma moved at an incredible pace toward where the magic beasts were.
Looks like she's using Quick Step powered up to Ground Shrink level, just be careful on the fuel consumption now. I've given her some lunch boxes so she can replenish her energy midway though.
Left behind, Blue kept standing where he was, seemingly agape. Get to it, you.

People have gathered in Orange Area as well.
There are three people running solo, and four parties of four people each, 19 people in total. Not a lot of them.
It's even fewer in Red Area, only that hot uncle's party of four and two other parties, 12 in total.
There's so few of them, you can get the prizes simply by participating in Red Area.

<TLN: Catch the latest updates and edits at Sousetsuka .com >
...Hm? Menu-san, what's up?

<<Magic beast invading from Yellow Area confirmed near Reinamiure.>>

Seriously?! Right off the bat!?
...Any nearby staff?

<<...They have confirmed the use of Signal Bead and are on the way to the site, however it will take several minutes to cover the distance.>>

That's bad, should I head there. But what if something happened here while I was away...!
But, Reina is in danger, this is no time to--

<<Daggerist [Radiasta] confirmed near Reinamiure. They are working together fending off the magic beast.>>

Radiasta... It's that green haired boy! Good job!
...But can just those two manage? Yellow area beasts are at least Lv20 right?

<<...Radiasta inflicted a grave wound on the magic beast through an ambush, Reinamiure dealt the finishing blow. Present crisis averted.>>

I-I see, thank goodness.
...Green haired boy, good job seriously. Nice work, nice work!
I'll treat him to a meal next time... I'm gonna bring him to some high class restaurant if he declines my handmade food.

<<...Magic beast from Orange Area closing in on Almatina confirmed.>>

Again?! Alma this time!?
Why the heck are they going straight for my companions, don't screw with me!
Yellow is my area, I can go there no problem. Alright, let's take a look just in case--

<<The magic beast has been confirmed dead by Almatina. She's unharmed with minimal MP and SP loss.>>

So quick!? A-Alma-san, aren't you way fired up? It hadn't even been ten seconds or so after encounter?
...She prolly could have handled Orange Area easily.

O,oooh... It just started and two magic beasts already broke through their areas. Both went after my companions at that.
My mental state is already chipped down and it's only been a few tens of minutes.
The whiplash of emotion from worry to watching those two easily dealt with it only serves to tire me out more.
Rather than constantly stressing over Alma and Reina getting attacked by high level magic beasts... Maybe I should've participated with them.
But there's no way I can muster up the courage to refuse Scarymast's request. She's scary.
Besides, there must be a meaning to her calling out to me when she's got so many other capable options.
Or maybe it's just because my Flight ability lets me rescue people easily.
Man, this is gonna be more hectic than I thought, make it end quick please...

Kamisama no Kago wo Kyohishitara?! Chapter 395

395 Atrocity

It's nothing much. I simply used Acceleration to slice off the boss's arm.
Grabbed the dagger on his waist, did a slash and put it back.
To all other people here, it must look like I haven't done anything, not even moving a muscle.
It's simple and yet nobody can perceive what I do under Acceleration. This is my 'Power'.
If I were to follow this bandit boss's creed, I'm free to exterminate this entire bandit gang.

"So? What now? Have you gotten the memo on the gap between our powers? Still wanna go?"

If they turn tail and run away, I really am not going to go after them.
But that's not happening. This kind of people won't back down just from one painful lesson, they don't have a good sense of self-preservation.

"Men! What're ya spacing out for! Surround him now! Don't let him pull off any crap! Change of plan, kill him now! Do it!"

The moment bandit boss was done shouting, I repeated my action.

"Wha! Hoooooow!? Damn! Damndamn! My arm's chopped off again... Oy! Healing magic, now! Quit dawdling dammit!"

His underlings stopped moving toward me yet again with their boss's scream.
They must think it weird. How could it happen again. This inexplicable turn of event is gradually encroaching their mind. An alarm signaling a life threatening danger must start ringing inside them. Starting small, gradually getting larger to a deafening volume.

"Now then, still wanna go? Though well, I no longer plan to let any of you get off alive though."

I'll teach those who don't get it a lesson they'll never forget. But there is no mercy to those who won't get the hint.
I'm in a foul mood right now. I was never into tormenting people and yet my irritation would abate whenever I cut this bandit boss's arm.

"Kill him now! Move it, get to it! Damnit! Just who the hell are you!"

Third time. I sliced bandit boss's arm. And moved back to my spot.
<TLN: Catch the latest updates and edits at Sousetsuka .com >
"Uooooooo! My arm! Bastaaaaaaaard! What the hell's going oooooon!"

The mage-looking man cast the same spell again and stuck back the arm. Bandit boss is looking pale seemingly from the blood loss. Or maybe due to something else.

The underlings seem to have gotten used to the scream by now, they didn't stop walking toward me. They all had this expression like they were facing off against an unidentifiable foreign object.
Not sure why none of them is attacking despite their boss's order to kill me though.

"So? Who wanna be disposed of first? Anyone's fine. I don't mind ridding you all at once either."

After I said that confidently, one of the bandits turned around and started running.
The man's alarm must be at maximum level. But I won't let him. I took my katana off magic bag and slashed horizontally.
Under Acceleration state of course. I'm not letting even one bandit flee this place.
My attack also sliced two bandits next to him.

(Ah, that was sloppy. I was going to slice them off one by one, carving 'regret' on them as I go, leaving the boss until the end.)

I did think this train of thought was extremely atrocious. It wasn't the normal me.
It seemed my anger truly reached its peak from having my sleep disturbed, my cold side surfaced up.

Three bodies fell down without even affording them to scream.
Those who noticed the sound and those who didn't. The people here were split in two.
Those who noticed immediately dashed off. An alarm foretelling of crisis must be overriding their mind.
Their instinct telling them to get away from this place asap. 'Stay away from this man'.

Sadly, it came all too late. Those who turned their backs on me immediately got sliced off.
The me at this time didn't care about the splatter scene it would entail.

Those who became delirious from all the ghastly bodies, those with stiffed screams as they stepped back, those trying to find a chance to run away, and those who couldn't accept reality and started attacking in frenzy.
All kinds of reactions ensued. Those who lunged to attack me got turned into lifeless bodies right away.

Several people deemed that I wasn't paying attention to them as I focused on counterattacking, they turned around altogether before dashing off in all directions as if they had consulted on it beforehand.
However, nothing exists here that can escape my Acceleration. A tragic end to these bandits perhaps?
Those who attempted to escape soon joined their friends as bodies.

This awfully cold action instead put a brake on me.
The next thing I did was tying up the remaining bandits who were in delirium or had fainted.

Skill? Nee yo Sonnamon! Chapter 123

Hunting Fest Begins

Hello, good morning.
Today is finally the day of Hunting Fest. Adventurers and skilled looking combat Job people have been hanging around the seaside hut, I mean the adventurer guild since morning.
Think there's around 200 participants. It's more than twice of people who turned up during Daijel's Stampede, dunno if it's because Daijel is small or Randorainam's big.
There's the full range of levels too, from Lv5 beginners to 2-3 people of around Lv50 like that hot uncle. From those who just want to have fun and those who take it seriously.
They'd be culling magic beasts to prevent a Stampede so all of them will contribute regardless though.

There's around 50 staff members responsible for running the fest.
I was confused where these guild people were hiding usually at first but apparently Scarymast had recruited adventurers, mercenaries and the likes to help just for today.
Well considering she also came for me, this was only natural.
The recruited people are mostly around Lv20, they look rather strong. The strongest is only at Lv40 though, the participants are stronger.
Us staff members have a badge clipped on our chest to distinguish us from participants.

And then among them, there's someone wearing a mask and a hood, totally standing out, me.
You can tell they all have the same line of thought, 'What's with this guy's deal, let's stay away', I'm feeling left out.
...Better than getting my cover blown though, endure it endure it.

Oh, Scarymast finally made her entrance.
Looks like she's greeting the participants before the fest begins in earnest.
Make it quick please, I can't take it anymore.

"It is to my great delight to see so many of you taking part in Hunting Fest. A Stampede occurred right after the cancellation of the last Hunting Fest, which may have been the reason. I must apologize for that."

Scarymast bowed deeply.
The guild staff and adventurers stirred at this... Well I guess you don't see her lowering her head often.
By the way, during the last Stampede, Scarymast spent many sleepless nights running around to gather skilled personnel while also simultaneously evacuating the town, resulting in zero casualty. Pretty good.
She's hard on people and harder on herself... I'm reminded of my superior at Japan. I'm worried they overworked themselves to death.

"As an apology for that there will be prize rewards up to third place in each area instead of just one for this Hunting Fest. If you missed your chance last year, this is your best bet. Use it as a motivation to spur an even greater result."

Wonder what the prizes are?
The crowd obviously got livelier when she mentioned prizes up to third place. Wonder if last year's prizes were just that good.
...Kinda regretting I can't participate now.

"The rule is the same as last year. Hunt magic beasts in Monster Prairie for a period of time, you get points on the quantity and level of magic beasts you hunted, the final tally will then decide your prize. For those participating as a party, the point will be split by the number of members. As I said before, reward prizes are given up to third place, it should be easier to nab them now. However, make sure you do not overexert yourself."

That's worth repeating for sure.

"Several points of note I'm sure you all are aware already, first prioritize your safety. Do not lose yourself over reward, and stay alive. Prime example includes taking on an area beyond your level. We will give you recommended areas based on your level and Kill Log, I ask you to refrain crossing over unless you truly have to."

Don't try to eat more than you can chew huh.
Though those who are high leveled taking on lower leveled areas could pose a problem as well.

"There have been cases of magic beasts invading lower level areas these past years, if you find yourself in one such situations, call for help. We will distribute an emergency signal bead, use it when the need arises. There is no penalty on its usage... Unless you use it as a prank."

The smile she put on with that mutter in the end was super scary.
Can't imagine what terrifying thing she's got in store for pranksters like that...

"Our helper staff dispatched in each area will come for you after the use of a signal bead. They wear a red badge on them to easily distinguish them."

...And then there's one suspicious individual mixed among those staff, which is me.

"You may notice someone wearing a mask among the staff. He's 'Soarer', and yes he can fly as his name implies. If you see him flying around during the fest, pay him no heed and keep your hunt on."

I know I'm not one to say it, but that's kinda a tall order...
Both the participants and the staff are looking at me dubiously. Please, just leave me alone.
Just gotta hope nobody complained they got distracted by me flying.

"Anyway, that's all I need to impart you lot. Ask our staff if you have questions. Well then, once you're all set, move out to Monster Prairie."

She bowed once before exiting the stage.
She mentioned how she didn't want to make it long winded and dampen the enthusiasms, but she really ended it abruptly just like that.
<TLN: Catch the latest updates and edits at Sousetsuka .com >

Afterward, the participants went to ask the staff on stuff like rules, equipment and tools.
The staff also confirmed their posts. I'm in yellow and orange areas.

I'm pretty much done mapping those areas.
My Mapping function may be convenient but the prairie was so vast it still took me around three days.
I can immediately tell the movements of both participants and magic beasts in those areas now. There's a limit to mana and life force search alone.
Orange area is full of magic beasts on the level of Bloody Fangs and High Cave Bears. One-on-one is fine but against multiple is a bit toughie.
Well, it's easily doable if I use Energy Control to explosively boost my Attributes like Reina, but I'd like to save on the food expense if I could help it. Making food takes time too.
I've prepared meals to resupply my Stamina but I hope I won't get to use them. I mean they're usable for normal meals if they're kept around.
I won't hesitate to if it comes down to it though.

"Hey you, can I?"

As I was thinking that while reading a pamphlet for staff, one of the participants called out to me.
It's a green haired boy. I said boy but he looks like he's come of age already though.
Eh, what? I know it's weird coming from me, but why'd anyone go out of their way chatting up someone who looks this suspicious?

"You're the Soarer that was in Daijel's Stampede aren't you? Or what, is there another Soarer out there?"

Of course not. 'Flight' Skill doesn't even exist, 'Soarer' Job is imaginary.
Someone out there might invent a tool that lets them fly though.

"...No, I am one and the same."

"I knew it! I was there too you see. If it weren't for you and that black haired girl beating that Werewolf, I dunno what'd become of me...!"

Ah, this kid is that. The dagger user boy that Werewolf grabbed to use as a shield.
Think I also came up with the plan to carpet bomb using rocks from above after watching this kid throwing an empty potion bottle at a goblin or something, sure takes me back.

"...Glad to see you're safe."

"Ou. I'm alive thanks to ya. I finally managed to buy decent equipment with the reward money. Been steadily leveling while taking on culling commissions lately."

"I didn't do much. Your survival was thanks to your ability and good luck."

"Don't give me that man, someone woulda definitely died back then if not for you... Me included."

This kid really seems to have been working hard on leveling, it's only been three months since Daijel Stampede and he's gone from Lv5 to Lv13 in that time.
He must be pretty desperate. Hopefully he won't get hurt in this fest.

"You're a helper huh. Will you come to my rescue if things get out of hands?"

"I'm in charge of yellow and orange area, where are you taking part in?"

"Eh, for real? I was gonna go for pea green area, but maybe I should give yellow a try."

"Don't. That area has packs of beasts stronger than Werewolf roaming around. You'd be an easy bait."

"Ah, let's not, yup, let's."

The boy turned pale and immediately reconsidered. Wise.
Even the pea green area might be a bit too much for this kid. Unless he can use Energy Control like Reina.

Looks like everybody is done making preparations while I was talking with the boy.
Now then, I've done everything I could, now I can only pray there won't be a big trouble brewing. Oh man, I'm not confident on that.

Kamisama no Kago wo Kyohishitara?! Chapter 394

394 Recruitment, Refusal

"You, be my lackey. Beating up those small fry ain't no small feat. Power is everything in this world. Serve me and you can use that power to go wild and snatch erry thing ya wanna through force. Whaddya say? This is true freedom! I'm gonna become the big boss in this region soon. Yer' fit as my right hand man."

"Uwaa! Eww! So lame! Pfft! ...Ah damn... Almost snorted from laughing. The heck is this? A candid camera show? Who wanna lead such a lame life. A recruitment really, you went and woke me up for this crap? And by this small caliber man at that, quit daydreaming will ya? So dumb. Is that all you want? I'm gonna head back now. I wanna dive  back in my bed."

All the bandits had the same dumbfounded look. Also all the villagers who had gathered here.
Are these villagers here as a peanut gallery? My thought wandered off.
Other villagers who aren't present here must be busy trying to flee.
These bandits threatened to kill them all and set the village on fire after all.
The people who came here out of curiosity would likely get killed first when it came down to that.

Also, taking this bandit boss's words at face value is a brainless move.
There's no way these bandits would just let the villagers up and go once they're done with me. I mean they are a bandit gang.
They're gonna kill villagers, rob their belongings and violate the women before selling them off as slaves. They're just that kind of folk. Lying comes with the territory.

The bandit boss couldn't process what I said and demanded me to say that again.
Hence I make it as concise and clear as possible with no room for misinterpretations this time.

"I don't wanna. I am not joining you lot. Go home if you're done. I'm sleepy."

"Men, surround him. I'mma make him regret for saying no to me. I'mma torture him real nice and slow. Get ready."
<TLN: Catch the latest updates and edits at Sousetsuka .com >
I had sprung into action by the time the bandit boss said that cliched line.
I'll make him be on the regretting side instead.

There's no advantage to this action. The normal me wouldn't have done this.
But thanks to me fighting off drowsiness, my character collapsed and showed another side.

THUD, there was a sound of something heavy hitting the ground a moment later.

"...O, o, ooooooooo!? Why's this great me's arm!? My arm!?"

The bandit boss's scream was sucked into the void of night. Yep, that's his right arm.

"Healing magic! Oy! Get to it! Ya wanna die!? Dammit! The heck's going on!?"

One of the bandits holding a wand hurriedly ran up here, picked up the fallen arm, and stuck it on the stump before reciting some sort of spell.
The wound quickly closed and the arm got reattached. There's not even a mark left, like there's no wound in the first place.
However, the proof is still on the ground. The blood that seeped out. The bonfire shined on a dark spot where the ground absorbed it.

Other bandits who were inching in to enclose me stopped and turned around at their boss's sudden scream.

"You! You bastard did something didn't ya!? The hell did you do! This great me! Ain't gonna die! To a mere damned brat's hands!"

"What? Remind me what you said again? Power is everything, snatch what you want through force, power is true freedom. Or did I get that wrong? My power is simply 'higher' than yours. This is the reality, you experienced it yourself yeah? Admit it. You're going to get trampled down by an even higher power. This is the 'creed' you spoke about ain't it? You've been making people to follow that, 'course you're gonna live by it as well. It's your creed after all."

Skill? Nee yo Sonnamon! Chapter 122

Discard Your Worldly Desires

The day following Alma's leveling.
Reina's making her debut at the pea green area today.
But first, I'm making her train on Mana Control before we get to the real thing.
She seemed to have grasped the knack during the chicken fight the other day, but it's not quite at a level sufficient for real combat yet so she's trialing by sparring with Alma now.
Only Alma can lecture her on Mana Control-based Skill Rearrangement after all.

"Mwu, I get that powering up 'Mana Blade' sharpens it, but it doesn't look that different to me, I dunno if I'm doing it right..."

"Then try out 'Extended Mana Blade'. The difference in using Mana Control or not is obvious with that... Just like this."

Alma cast Extended Mana Blade.
It's an ability to extend your sword's reach in the shape of a blade, but Mana Control allows you to freely change this shape.
It's a good Skill ability for practice since it requires a delicate control of mana, and not merely just boosting its power.

"Oh, the extended blade changed shape!"

"Start by sensing the flow of mana during Skill usage first thing first. That's the fundamental of Skill Rearrangement."

"The flow of mana? I-I can't really imagine how to feel that..."

"...If you find it hard to tell the flow of mana that's outside your body, try focusing your inner mana in your head. That should lets you perceive flows and sizes of mana existing externally."

"G-gotcha... Nnn... Ooh?! What is this! I can sense mana even though I can't see them with my eyes or touch them!"

Looks like she managed to learn Mana Perception. Naturally seeing as she can already control her inner mana.

"Ooh, the world looks different, no, it feels different! ...But is it just me, or the inside of my head is getting hotter...?"

"That heat will turn into pain if you keep that up for long. According to Hikaru, if you go beyond your limit with this technique, you might even become a cripple at worst so make sure you stop on the first onset of pain."

"C-cripple...!? That's way scary...!"

Reina turned pale as she was warned on the danger of Mana Perception while being drunk on the sense of omnipotence the technique brought her.
By the way, the cripple part is neither a threat or an exaggeration. Obtaining a new extrasensory part comes with an unexpectedly huge risk.
According to Menu, you might even die as your brain gets literally fried while raising smoke like in manga.
Apparently you can lessen the burden by shutting out your other senses such as sight or hearing, yet a prolonged usage is still dangerous.
I gotta be careful not to deploy Mana Search when I'm out of HP. I'm not into inedible delicacy like a lost brain.

While Reina is sparring, I take it upon myself to remove all approaching magic beasts while gathering fruits and ingredients.
There's a lot of fruits you can eat as is around these parts, like pear-like fruit (Rafa fruit), or muscat-like fruit (Grigure fruit), it's like a harvest moon.
Wish there were some melons around though. Gununu.

Naturally magic beasts who eat those fruits are attacking me.
If they were green area magic beasts, I'd have lost exactly zero HP, but that's not applicable in this area.
If they go for it, I'll simply react (attack) accordingly.

『Gogeeeeeeeee!!』
<TLN: Catch the latest updates and edits at Sousetsuka .com >

Whoa, speak of the devil, a Bronze Cock showed up threatening me like saying, 'The hell ya bastard pullin' in my turf!'
I just wanna pick some fruits, I'm not going to disturb your feeding time.
But well, I say bring it on if you're coming at me.
...This thing's materials (meat in particular) seem of pretty high quality. Karaage teriyaki oyakodon.

『Go-gogya!? Gogeeeeeeee!!』

...It ran off as I was pondering what to make for dinner tonight. Deja vu, remind me of the rabbits back then...
How do I look to these magic beasts when I see them with meals in mind anyway.
Maybe like that kobold I bumped into the first night I arrived in this world? That'd be scary for sure.

『Gyui! Giii!』

Oh, this time a Twin Horn Rabbit is approaching me. It comes looking for a fight as well.
I make an effort to abandon my worldly desires (menu tonight) while suppressing my bloodlust.
It's okay, it's okay, I'm not scary not scary not scary.

『Pi-pigyaaaaaaaaaaa!!!』

...It ran away like a literal startled hare. Even used several Skills as it did.
Hueh? Why'd it run when I had gone out of my way to repress my bloodlust. Maybe I still got some wordly desires left.

<<...Your abandonment of worldly desires and bloodlust suppression turned into pure malice and killing intent, amplifying the terror instead.>>

...Man hunting is a hard work. Wouldn't look like this against higher level enemies though.
Hunting for meat and mats in this area is gonna be a pain if they keep running away on first sight.
It's no sweat if I go at it seriously like when I abduct them for Reina's leveling though.

"...What's Kajikawa-san been doing all this time I wonder?"

"It looks like he's intimidating any magic beast coming close while gathering fruits...?"

"More like those magic beasts tried to pick a fight with him and fled in terror instead. I guess the beasts in this area are nothing when you're as strong as Kajikawa-san."

Nay nay, they started it themselves and then ran away themselves.
It ultimately helps them focus on training though so all OK.

Surely, those beasts wouldn't see me as quite the menace if I just focused on what desserts to make instead.
Maybe I should try that, what cold menu is best for the incoming heat-packed days.
Gonna try my hands on making sherbets or maybe fruit jelly. If I find a substitute for gelatin.
Maybe I could even open a food stall during the Hunting Fest if it went well. Like as palate cleansers.
No, I'm sure other people also have the same idea, it'd be tough. Unless my menu is that unique.
Hunting Fest huh, I'm looking forward to the eating around part more than the main part.
I just hope the hunting part of the event ends peacefully without any disturbance, but that's likely a pipe dream... My intuition (ghost) who hasn't had a spotlight lately is reassuring me that.

393 Midnight Visitors

"The chump who killed this great me's lackeys today must be here! Bring 'im to me! Or else we're gonna burn this village to the ground! I don't care if I hafta make a mincemeat outta y'all!"

A man loudly shouted, threatening the villagers. It's the boss of a bandit gang who's just relocated from the kingdom and made this area their new turf.
A huge number of his underlings got killed just when they started so he took the matter in his hands.
One of his underlings was watching from afar when it happened, which brought him here.

Shaken by this threat, a lot of villagers came to wake me up and so now I stand in front of my inn. They've made a semi circle in front of me.

"The heck did you guys do!?" "Why'd you antagonize those goons!"
"How're you gonna take responsibility for our village crisis!" "We're handing you over! Don't resist!"

They all kept blaming me. As for me, getting waken up in this cacophony is a bit, no, quite bad for my mood. To the point my character is crumbling apart.
The villagers kept shouting and screaming without realizing my inner state of mind.

How did they know I was the culprit right away? Because we're the sole visitors in this village today. Simple as.
So they immediately piece the two together when the bandits told them. There's only one truth!

(Oh geez, I so can't wait what kinda mess I'm getting thrown into this time!)

I forcefully roused my MAX drowsiness with a certain saiyan's line.
I'm so fed up by this point, I might as well enjoy it, my mind is tilting to 'whatever' state.

I'm the only one out. I was the one who did the deed after all. So I told underling and the ladies to stay put in their rooms.
I put on my hood to avoid my face being seen. It's dark out which should serve well as a cover.

(Getting seen will just invite more trouble later. Gotta hide my face whenever I can.)

Several villagers are holding torches to light the surrounding area, but it's not enough to shine under my hood.
I start walking toward this bandit boss while ignoring the villagers who are still busy disparaging me.
They shut up at once and make way for me. The sight of a parting crowd was exhilarating, but the fact that thought crossed my mind alone proves that my mental state is not normal right now.

Walking straight leads me to the center of the village brightly lit by bonfires.
A pompous-looking man was waiting there, he spoke thus the moment he saw me.

"You huh? The guy who killed my men? What the hell, yer' just a brat. But that doesn't matter."

The bandit boss figured I'm a 'brat' right away despite my hood.
Hearing him say that, it hit me, 'Oh yeah, I'm still 15. But how'd he know when my face's hidden?'
There are around thirty men equipped with leather armor, swords, short bows, spears, daggers and some even holding wands seemingly mages, besides him here.
They're all grinning while looking at me curiously, waiting to see what's gonna happen next while also serving as a restraint for the villagers who have gathered here.

The boss resumed speaking, but his words caught me off guards because it wasn't a declaration to have me dead.
