Kamisama no Kago wo Kyohishitara?! Chapter 531

531 Surplus Delay

We're flying in a straight line over an unobstructed sky. Doesn't matter if there's forests, hilly roads, or plains.
The trip is a smooth one. All the twisting paths below would have been an ordeal on land, but it was no concern of mine here.

"Haa, this sense of freedom works wonder on stress level... It feels so nice..."

The sudden overflow of information had been weighing my mind.
Hence, this sight of mother's nature and its grandeur is therapeutic.
Enough to refresh my cornered heart.

But of course the 'usual' tore this quiet moment apart.

"Kyaa! Save us!"

Yep, it's the classic. A call for help from travelers being attacked by the roadside.
I've gotten used to it already. I asked griffon to fly in that direction.
I can't ignore it now that I've heard it. It's just humane to. I also don't want to leave a bad taste in my mouth and carry a regret forever.
Griffon ran in the sky at the fastest speed I could still hold on to it.

It was fast enough to get us to a wagon under attack in a flash.
The wagon is still safe. There's five bear-like creatures encircling and growling at the wagon.
An armed man that seems to be the wagon's escort is lying on the ground, but he still looks raring to go.
Another escort is a woman. She's holding a sword while protecting another woman hiding behind her, probably a passenger.

"Dammit! Why are there so many Bearuads here of all place!"

The female escort slashed at one of the approaching bear which bore its fangs in an attempt to stop it.
I interjected here. An ambush from above. We nose dived at one of the five bears.

"Griffon, feel free to eat this one if you're hungry. Ah, wait, are these things even palatable to you?"

Griffon landed on one of the so called Bearuads with its forelegs. Very skillful.
As I had no clue what griffons usually eat in the nature, a weird question popped up in my mind.

Of course, this situation looks like it got worse. Not to me. But to the wagon side.
A griffon showed up out of nowhere. One Bearuad got pinned down by this griffon.
It's a clear picture of a food chain. Lying below both creatures are 'humans'. They must believe that they're next. It's akin to instinct.
The woman being guarded by the female escort was the first to react.

"Kyaaaaaaaaaaa!"

She screamed her lungs out at the sight of griffon before falling unconscious.
That signaled the Bearuads to disperse. Meanwhile the one Bearuad pinned by griffon died and became its fodder.

As for me, I entered Acceleration and punched the running bears' heads one by one.
All for money. You can never have enough. This is a good chance as any to earn some. I won't let it go to waste.
I may have the Black Card, but I'm scared I'd get too dependent on it. I'd like to have some spare physical cash on me.
Their fur and leather seem to look pretty nice once skinned. The meat should taste good too, four of these bears whole should fetch for a hefty sum.

Undoing Acceleration got me a loud 'Bam!' sound of something popping as the Bearuads collapsed altogether.
You often see this scene in manga. The Bearuads' heads popped off, quite literally. It's a grotesque splatter.
Skulls, grey matter, brain, eyes turned into buckshots as they flew off everywhere.
I had calculated the direction they'd fly so nobody was hurt physically, but the sight was apparently a form of mental attack to the two escorts.
The woman made a 'Geeeh' sound while the man held his hand over his mouth as his face turned pale.
