524 Is This Safe to Know?
"Here goes what it says in the oldest record written in an ancient language."
I'm really not sure if we can really hear that. You can't be telling me it's some heretical writing, can you?
But Captain-san isn't stopping him. Maybe he thinks it's just some utter nonsense? Or perhaps the topic isn't really a taboo in this world?
"Binota, I believe that contains information that can't be made public. You must not continue."
(It's ouuuut! Put a brake on it quicker will youu! The cat's out the bag already though.)
Captain-san harshly warned Binota with a glare. But it's far too late now.
We're already barely past the out line. There's no turning back now that we have that knowledge.
Besides, I've made up my mind to hear Binota out.
I just don't want to get myself dragged in a religion-related mess.
Most trouble related to that stuff usually leads to overturning the world at its root or something.
I absolutely don't wanna have anything to do with anything that large scale.
(...Oho? Wait, considering I'm planning to get a good whack on this world's god, I guess I'm past having that concern anyway?)
I had a second thought while Binota was cowering from Captain-san's warning.
And the feeling of 'whatever' toward this world won over inside me.
Therefore, I might as well hear him out if it's gonna facilitate me achieving my goal in the future.
"Let me hear it. There's something I need to make sure for myself."
Captain-san glared hard at me. Like he's staring at a criminal.

"Are you certain? 'I better not knowing' is usually the best stance to take on these matters. And yet you insist? ...In that case, I must wait outside."
He must have deemed it impossible to change my mind after seeing my facial expression. I get that he's worried about it. Yet I bet he chose not to have any part in this due to his position.
Once Captain-san was out in the corridor, Binota resumed without a hint of hesitation.
"Let me continue. There are two gods in this world. One is a god who created the foundation of this world. And the other is a god who created the living beings that went on to populate that world."
I'm not particularly surprised at this kind of oft-seen creation myths.
"However, the current religion in this world has no mention of this god who created living beings. As if they never existed in the first place. They deem this ancient record as a work of fiction created by later generations. They insist that the god who made the world and living beings is one and the same."
I made a comment in my mind at this cliched development. Guessing several ways this story would unfold.
"According to this document, the two gods fought each other. The god of creatures got driven away and sealed somewhere in this world."
See, there it is, I could only grieve at how accurate my guess was.
"The winning god naturally attempted to remake the living beings, that is to say 'humans', but as they had used up all their power to create and maintain the world itself, they could not afford diverting their power elsewhere."
I'm gradually seeing the pattern. There's only one path that god would take.
"Therefore, they instead bestowed these 'Humans' a vestige of their power, turning over dominion over those humans as theirs while retaining the 'Base'."
That is to say the 'Divine Protection', 'Blessing'. The thing I lack.
Which means I'm a 'Base' that should not exist in this world anymore.
"Of course your very existence is the one thing that seals the deal on my hypothesis. This document wrote about 'Black Clad' which also made appearances in many more documents, tales, folklores and legends!"
I always had an inkling that I might be an irregular being in this world. As it turns out, I really am an existence 'That should have never existed'.
