Skill? Nee yo Sonnamon! Chapter 330

Hand-swinging Craftsmen - Fist-swinging Oni

This chapter starts from Higuroima, Gen Workshop's apprentice.

"Ugunuuuuuu...!!"

"H-hey, you okay Julian? Your face is beet red from straining yourself."

"Haa, haa, no need to fret. This is my first time engraving a Magic Formula on orichalcum. Ordinary methods simply don't work against this tremendous hardness...!"

"That darned Kajikawa went and brought yet another crazy mats... I'm itchin' to jump on 'em!"

The sweaty Julian is putting his entire being just to engrave even a single millimeter of the formula. Guy is smiling despite his weary expression.
Same with geezer, even though he's cursing out loud as he's struggling hard working on S-rank magic beast mats, his eyes are laughing. He's got this fully content look like that time we got Black Dragon tail tip as a mat to work on.

The two don't seem displeased with their struggle against those hard to process mats, heck, they look like they're having fun even.
But, as they're doing very delicate processes that don't allow even the slightest deviation, I know they're putting in some real nerve draining concentration.

Among Combat Job people, those who relish in battle are called battle junkies. These two would be considered ones among Production Job.
The harder a mat to work on, the better the final equipment it becomes. I guess the feeling of having your hard work paid off must be real special.

...Also, the reason these two are giving their all in this joint work is probably related to that 'Explosive Great Hammer' destruction on Demon King's hands.

Frankly, that great hammer ain't meant for human use.
It's hard to lift, it's way too big, it's stupid heavy. That ain't something you wanna use in real combat.

Even if someone could somehow lift that thing up, they'd get swung around by it instead.
Kajikawa controlled the thing like it's his own limb because he's a weirdo. That ain't humanly possible. Guy a monster.

There's just no way that thing's gonna break.
There was that time we dropped the hammerhead on the adamantite anvil when we tried to carry it up, yet the only thing that got a dent was the anvil, the hammerhead itself remained flawless. It was just that tough.

Yet Demon King so easily broke that hammer into pieces simply by waving his wrist like he was swatting a fly.
Heard, Kajikawa almost got killed afterward.

The two looked obviously shaken like they were hit by a lightning when they heard about the news.
The work of art they put their souls into was utterly meaningless against Demon King.
Even its user, Kajikawa was powerless.

Also the fact that he almost lost his life because the weapon they created was too weak.

Kajikawa followed up by saying that it was all due to his own shortcomings, but the fact that the weapon broke remains.
They had all the confident in the world on that greathammer, yet it was akin to a toy in front of Demon King. Apparently that reality made them feel utterly helpless.

They were down in the dump when Kajikawa showed up again and ordered some new things made, bringing with him new mats.

He showed boss <<geezer>> S-rank magic beast mats and asked him to create new equipment and weapons as quickly as possible.
You can never have enough powerful equipment when you're up against Demon King. Knowing that only geezer could handle them, he unloaded all the mats he got.

All of which are something us craftsmen could only dream having their hands on, yet there's always a risk of us failing, and it's in no way low.
The fact that he didn't hesitate at all shows his trust on geezer's skill.
Geezer's eyes changed the moment he laid his eyes on the mats. He started working on them like he was possessed.
...I'm worried he's gonna drop dead from overworking, but his complexion still looks fine for now.

Kajikawa handed over 'Shape Memory Living Metal', 'Orichalcum', 'Flame Dragon Crystal', 'Mysterious Jet Black Block' to Julian and ordered a new greathammer.
The first three are to be used on the explosive engine while the block is for the hammer head.
Every one of those is super rare item, I'm way past getting surprised and just left perplexed.

'Flame Dragon Crystal' in particular. It's a crystallization of the remaining mana of a flame-wielding dragon after a period of thousands of years. Even an earpick size of it is worth an astronomical amount.
The crystal Kajikawa brought was thumb sized, even then it's capable of an unbelievably higher output than any single S-rank mana stone at the same size.
Even an A-rank magic stone was destructive enough to blow away a mountain. I can't even begin to imagine what this crystal is capable of...

Julian mentioned he could add more functions with that crystal. I dunno what to expect of the final product. Only fear.

Kajikawa also ordered other stuff using S-rank flame magic stones. All of them at destructive, no, apocalyptic level, even Julian was dumbfounded when he heard them.
『I'd be frank with you, that's terrifying! But that's precisely why it's worth doing!』, he ultimately got onboard... Guy's as much a weirdo.

BOOOOM!! An explosion resounded somewhere.
The workshop, no, the entire city trembled. That was some tremendously strong impact.
...How many times would that make today.

"The hell's up with all that noise! Almost made me miss a spot dangit!"

"Fuhaha! It appears My Customer is still locked in a fist fight with the Fierce God of the Mountain! I shan't lose either!"

...It's been an hour since Kajikawa hurriedly went to the Monster Mountains with a pale face after I mentioned rumors about a mysterious magic beast rampaging there as of late.
They still at it huh. Finish it up already.

~~~~~~~~Fierce God's Pupil's POV~~~~~~~~
『Guruaa!』
"Dwaaaaaaa!!?"
I narrowly dodged a fierce assault not unlike that of a tempest, nay, even tempest seemed like breeze compared to that series of attacks.
I was finally able to defend myself after tripling my Attributes with Energy Control... Is it just me, or is he even stronger than the last time we met?
Oni-sensei looked real grumpy when he lunged at me all of a sudden. The reason must be all the missing food I was supposed to deliver him for almost half a month.
I tried to soothe him by presenting food, but he'd chow it down in an instant before immediately resuming his attack! Either fight or eat, pick one, Oni-sensei! I mean, please pick eat if possible, no really I'm begging you!
We've been doing this food offering, getting punched and punching back routine for about an hour and I'm finally about to run run out of gas. I've used up all Mana and Energy potions I had too.
I turned pale when Julian's group mentioned this. I didn't expect him to be this mad.
Had he been piling up anger all this time and the dam burst open the moment he saw me. Hahaha, yandere?
『Guru!!』
"Guhwaa!!"
Oni-sensei's elbow strike made a clean hit on my solar plexus. My HP got used all up, it hurt super bad.
Nope. There's no 'dere' to be found here. Only rage.
Our fist fight was finally over after I got blown to a mountain and then another mountain beyond it.
I'm gonna strive my hardest to never forget Oni-sensei's offering anymore. I might get killed for real next time. Scary.
...But still, just like that time against the fake, I could hold my own against Oni-sensei for a decent amount of time now. Makes me realize how much I've grown.
Entering apprenticeship under him was the correct choice after all. Thank you Oni-sensei. But please vent your anger in a less bombastic manner, no really.
Though not quite at Demon King level, this whole thing reminded me again how outmatched I am.
I'd love to bring Oni-sensei along in operation Defeat Demon King, but there's no way I could rein Oni-sensei in...
<<...For your information, Fierce God of Fist has a 10% probability of winning a fight against Demon King.>>
Ah, guess Demon King is still out of his league huh.
...Heck, Oni-sensei wins one in ten fights huh. That's it, I'm bringing you along too. No, seriously.
