589 Where Mages Fight
I'm sure you know without me saying. We're walking around openly in broad daylight.
Crowd split apart just from Balga walking like he's Moses. Not to mention Kyaro strolling next to him without a disguise.
Naturally they'd question the other woman with them right? Apparently not because people would mention Selram name here and there. She's well known already.
Of course, this means some people end up noticing me, asking 'who's that suspicious hooded guy?'
Three famous people are in a group. Of course an ordinary man like me seen with them becomes a hot topic.
(I can't afford not hiding my face here...)
I probably won't need to if I'm only with one or at most two of them.
But all three together is asking for the impossible.
"That old man is still going at it? I mean, how old is he again this year?"
"Hahaha, if I recall right he should be 65. I don't believe he ever said he'd stay active forever. Losing to me must come as a great shock to him. I have never heard him uttering the word 'retirement' however."
"That gentleman's magic possesses enough strength to rival Spirit Magic. I'm amazed he could still display such power even now. I expect nothing less from the one known as 'Ultimate Mage'."
Selram was amazed, Balga found it fun, while Kyaro showed respect, each of them had different impressions on the magic champion.
(Then again, Balga fought and won against that guy right? He's really a monster among monsters.)
I have no idea how it went down but I just can't imagine this burly man who looks the very picture of all brawn no brain actually wielding magic and even triumphing.
We arrived at the magic coliseum in the meantime.
The spectators looked a bit different than in other coliseums.

"...Those people are, hmm? They're holding canes... don't tell me."
"Fumu, you noticed huh? Those are mages. You fight with magic in this coliseum. No mages and their endless appetite are gonna miss the chances of maybe witnessing new spells on display. Well, there are also those who come here to blow off steam built up from cooping up in their research."
"Mages who revealed the results of their research on new magic formulas and such at this coliseum are not actually uncommon, in fact."
"The matches here are the flashiest. I've seen people who fight to de-stress."
The three chatted happily without me. I could only follow them from behind.
We passed through a special entrance not intended for general audience. As expected of celebs.
The guards let them through just like that after seeing their faces. Meanwhile I got stopped.
"Hey! This place is off limits to non personnel, okay. Get your ticket and go through the entrance over there."
"My, he's my guest. Let him pass."
"B-but, the rules state we cannot do that. Only those who have filed the application and given permission may use this entrance!"
I didn't want to trouble this guard. He's only doing his job. I actually value how he won't bend the rules just because some celebs tell him to.
Three celebs are here now. Other guards would have likely given the OK easily.
"I'll get my own ticket and enter the proper way. We can meet up later outside."
I regretted blurting that out without thinking.
(Shouldn't have told them to meet up... Staying with them is only gonna land me in more mess...)
"Actually, we should disband..."
"Hold it. I'll treat you all to the special seats. Let's watch together!"
Of course that ended in vain thanks to Selram's generous offer.
I got stuck with these there in the end.
