Hero-kun and me are supposed to be in charge of exterminating the beasts invading from the east, but they do have soldiers stationed there as the last line of defense in case of slippage.
They don't seem too hot. Can't blame 'em.
Just like that commander-like man mentioned, if the two of us failed here, they'd have to deal with more than ten thousands level 40 magic beasts.
Meanwhile these soldiers are averaging at around Lv40 and there's only around 500 of them stationed in this side.
They usually had a lot more soldiers around, but most have been dispatched out to deal with commotions happening all over the continent, hence this sorry sight.
They're gonna get instantly crushed underfoot from the slightest mistake. Some of them are even tearing up already.
Morale this low might be bad if some of those beasts got to them.
...I'll have Hero-kun pep them up a bit.

Just like a certain manga hero, I can tell that he's concentrating his mana into his sword.
I added some extra to it with Remote Mana Control, stealthily. Quietly, quietly.
I've never boosted someone else's Skill Ability before but my mana got sucked into it just fine.
...I added around 500 MP, it's gonna be okay right?

Hero-kun swung his sword toward the herd of magic beasts, unleashing a Farslash.
A moment later--
"...Eh?"
With a ZVUT sound, a 100 meter long extra large flying slash shot out. Whoa-hero-you're-amazing.
The person unleashing that himself looked agape as he gasped reflexively... Maybe I went too far there.
The leading magic beasts were unable to dodge the suddenly appearing extra large Farslash and got cut in two.
Apparently I was counted as part of the equation due to my buff, I could tell a lot of exp flowed into me.
...How many beasts got done in from that?

That managed to kill 10-20% of them huh...
We could have ended it all with a barrage of this move, but each one costs too much, I'm not gonna use it anymore.
The soldiers were dumbfounded after watching that gigantic farslash. 'Course they would.
Now's my chance to perk them up and raise morale.
"Men, you have just witnessed the true power of the present day hero! The power to easily crush those beasts like insects they are, doesn't matter how many of them banding up!"

I ignored the protesting Hero-kun and kept stoking the flames.
Hero-kun is the ultimate weapon of mankind after all, this is exactly the time and place to prop him up.

But that performance seemed to hit the spot. The soldiers are looking at Hero-kun with eyes full of expectations.

The flustered commander seemed to have found a new hope on Hero-kun. But having someone with that crazy power as your ally does significantly raise your survival rate indeed.
The soldiers are aware of that and they're obviously way more spirited now.

I mean, have you looked in the mirror. Heck, those soldiers probably mistook his gender.
If only he had a short hair, they might have thought of him as an androgynous hottie at least. His face still looks like a girl though, so maybe not.

Frankly speaking, exterminating all these magic beasts is not at all difficult. It takes time though.
Heck, if I were to go wild, I could simply swing my Explosive Great Hammer in the center of this swarm and their number would rapidly diminish.
But, that's gonna make 'Soarer' stand out too much, no? Making myself more conspicuous than the 'Hero' is only gonna make both our positions awkward in the future.
So yeah, the plan is to have Hero-kun going wild like a peerless warrior he is. I'm gonna use all the nasty items usable only at times like this.

I had Hero-kun shoot magic at the right timing.
Alright, that should do it.
Right after the fireball Hero-kun shot landed, a huge chain of explosions popped off all around the magic beast herd.
It was like a carpet bombing from fighter aircrafts. The army of beasts got turned into pieces of meat every time an explosion popped off.
Hero-kun shot a slightly advanced fire spell. It's powerful but not the kind of spell that can cause a tremendously powerful chain of explosions like this.
No, it's all thanks to Julian's invention, Magic Stone Mines.
I just timed his spell right as those beasts stepped on those mines. I'd have used lightning elemental mines if I were to follow the original reference but they have a small range so I settled with fire and earth mines instead. This will do.
"W, what tremendous magical firepower...!"
"Both swordsmanship and magic are out of this world...! This is gonna be a cinch!"
"Hooray for Hero-sama!!"
More and more soldiers are putting Hero-kun on a pedestal. Going swimmingly.
The person in question has his jaw dropped seeing the state of magic beasts though.

That attack just now erased around 30-40% of those beasts. Things are going swimmingly.
Oh, my level went up. I can buff Hero-kun's Skill again now.
Well now, I plan to test out all kinds of things while we exterminate these beasts.
I'll have Hero-kun take on the glory. The 'It's All Thanks to Hero-sama' plan is going well. Go at it, Hero-kun.
But man, I wish Alma and the rest were here to feast on all this easy exp...
