Kamisama no Kago wo Kyohishitara?! Chapter 595

595 What is Finesse?

A man came. He looks to be around mid thirties. His hair is all slicked back with a meticulously trimmed mustache. He's got a straight posture, a bit slanted to the back like he's looking down on people complemented by his smug expression.
He's wearing the typical 'I am a nobleman' attire.

(...And right after we got in too...)

This is a private room. A personal space.
Unfamiliar man can't just enter randomly. No wait, he might have got the wrong room or he might be these two's acquaintance.
But the two are looking at him with a 'who's this guy?' expression. The word coming out of his mouth affirmed that too.

"Oy! This is no place for the likes of you! Disappear at once! You're an eyesore, I'm losing my appetite! Oy! Where's the manager!? Tell them to get out!"

What is this even template tantrum. Who even is this utterly shameless man with no shred of grace.
The manager came by and tried to calm him down.

"Brunton-sama! These fine people are our establishment's good patrons. Please refrain from using such language on them. I hope you find it in your heart to compose yourself."

The manager of this restaurant looks like a do*fu-styled bearded old man. A striking resemblance.
The managed bowed and urged the man called Brunton to get back to his seat.
To no avail.

"They're mere upstart and dark elf! And look who they bring with them, a brat of unknown origin! This restaurant is known for its finesse! Do you mean to bring shame to my face by allowing them inside!?"

The only one lacking finesse is this man. People like him have no clue how much mud they smeared on themselves by going out of their way to make a ruckus out of something this petty.
But the fact that he called Selram an upstart must mean he knows about her.
Now then, wonder how is this gonna roll. Also, the man seems to discriminate against dark elves.
He's also mad at me of course, but it sounds like I'm the least problematic among us to him?
Yet the manager isn't complaining at all about me. I'd like to know how this restaurant gauges high-class-ness.

(I believe high class restaurants tend to have a rule about refusing first time customers. Or at least those who don't have referrals. That's my image on them, guess not.)

I judge restaurant's 'class' by the degree of their broadminded-ness towards their customers' attitudes.
The best establishments are those that can drive away customers who went past their threshold 'Amicably', 'Inoffensively' and 'Firmly'.

"The right to accept or refuse customers who come to our establishment rests on me. I do not hesitate to refuse those whom I believe inappropriate. These fine people being here is all the proof needed. Brunton-sama, you mentioned finesse, however we do not have such a rule here. All we wish is for our customers to enjoy our menu. We only ask appropriate compensation for their satisfaction. That is all there is to it. That is the extent of a relationship between customers and service providers. The fault lies on me if you do not wish to visit ours any longer. Not on these fine ladies and gentlemen. The exit is over there, we won't ask for compensation. We await your next patronage."

The manager firmly told the man to 'get out' without uttering a word of apology.
