Aberrant Object
Creak, I turned the door knob of a wooden door and opened it.
Beyond the door is a vast sprawling plain with a red sky above.
...No really, the sky is red. Not evening red or anything, just red.
I caught sight of a gigantic red bird glaring at me in that red sky.
Goosebumps assaulted my whole body at once.
『HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!』
The red bird cried out as it began making its way toward me.
Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, I absolutely can't let that thing near me!!
I'm petrified from fear, can't move a muscle.
I immediately mana pile bunkered myself in the opposite direction and violently closed the door from inside.
"Haa, haa, haa, haaa...!!"
H, hiii...!! W-what's the deal with that place...!?
My heart is beating so loud as if it's gonna burst out. My whole body is sweating bullets, I can't breathe right.
The instant that bird was in my view, I was convinced there is no way I could beat it.
The thing emanated an overwhelming pressure that far surpassed even Demon King. I'd die for sure if I tried to take that thing on... What is this? Are you telling me, monsters like that are common behind the other doors here.
<<Unable to confirm the Status. However, considering its size and speed, that bird's Attributes are estimated to be around 100,000.>>
To hell with that!
Are you freaking kidding me! What the heck's a hundred thousands even!? Even 10,000 is impossible.
Heck, I felt like that bird got bigger and bigger as it came closer, just how big it was anyway...?
<<Its total length is estimated to be around 3 kilometers.>>
Ah, yup, it's hopeless. It's way too big I dunno if I can even see it as food. And it's not a question of whether the thing's edible or not.
...Would have been a disaster had the door been connected closer to it. I really gotta stay on my toes...
The first sliding door was the Honnoji (Nobu's last moment), the second door was a red sky plain (danger bird included).
My heart can't take it anymore. I'm already dreading the next door.
But not like I can just laze around for several days in this door-laden corridor either....
The next door is an automatic door.
...It would be bad if this door refused to open when things go south. Still I guess I'll take a peek at least.
Just in case, I'll leave something heavy to block the door. Alright, it's staying open.
Beyond the door was a hamburger store.
...No really, it's your average ordinary store.
There's no clerk or customer to be found here but that's about the only thing out of place.
Is this Japan?
<<Negative. The language used does not belong to earth, therefore this location is likely either a dimension that resembles a junk food store, a parallel world, or another planet.>>
...So it just looks like Japan but not actually is.
Uwaah it's true, the words on the signboards with hamburger pictures are written in a language I don't know.
I understand what's written thanks to Menu's translation feature, but it's super weird stuff.
I mean it says, 'The meat interposed between bread will be honored guest's own.'
Alright, let's go home.
I've got doors to open.
"Dear good sir, we hope you weren't window shopping."
Oh crap.
Someone called out to me from behind just as I turned around toward the automatic door.
The voice sounds like a young woman's.
I turned around and saw a severed woman head making a business smile while literally floating there.
Oof, the classic burger store's cap she's wearing isn't abating the horror vibes at all. Makes it all the worse in fact.
"We hope you order something now that you're here and all."
"...What's today's special?"
"Let's see, we should be able to make something super special if we use all the meat below the neck."
A meat cleaver-looking kitchen knife appeared near the clerk. It's floating.
It looks super eager to hijack my body. Really (abbreviated).
"We will now begin cooking. Please wait a moment."
The meat cleaver swung at me.
Unclear who and how it was swung, but I'm used to floating objects so the scene itself didn't really faze me.

The meat cleaver stopped before it could reach me.
"...Huh?"
"What's up, keep cooking."
"T, that's weird. Why, why won't it move, I wonder...?"
The severed head clerk muttered in confusion.
I merely seized the kitchen knife with Mana Control. Looks like the clerk can't sense mana. She's panicking.
"Hmph, hmmph...! I-I can't get it to move..."
The tearful severed head clerk tried her best to move the kitchen knife.
...I almost thought she looked cute for a moment there. I'm not even into horror.
She struggled for a while before eventually resigning when the knife refused to budge till the end.
"W-we beg your pardon. An unidentified trouble has cropped up. We are unable to provide your order..."
"Oh really, that's a shame. I'll look for another place to eat today."
"Sniffle. We await your next patronage..."
The severed head clerk vanished with a dejected look.
Only the meat cleaver remained, bringing silence back in the store.
...Hm, I don't think I'd find anything good here.
Nothing looks particularly useful, guess I'll head back.
<<Recommendation: Collect aberrant object, 'Meat Cleaving Kitchen Knife'.>>
Eh? Ah, this thing?
That's fine by me, but is this even useful?
<<According to analysis, the knife possessed 3000 ATK point when it was swung toward Kajikawa Hikaru earlier.>>
Bfft!!?
W-what!? That's easily quintuple Alma's black sword!
N, no wait, it's got a short reach so it's probably not that good as a sword. But it's still way too strong!
Rather, it should be usable as a short sword for Reina. She should be able to wield it to the fullest.
What do. But then Reina's lightning dagger will be rendered useless.
<<Negative. This kitchen knife has the ability that randomly changes its Attack power with every swing. It is an extremely usable weapon when one is blessed with luck. It is advisable to use it as a sub weapon due to its random nature.>>
Eeh...? What's up with that weird effect. Had no idea it even existed.
I see, so this is a 'Bug you can take home'. Depending on the upper limit of its Attack power, it might have the potential to overcome even Demon King.
Fumu, it's not without risks but you can also expect comparable return huh.
Meaning, you'd probably get unimaginable rewards if you could beat that bird. That's impossible for me though.
Actually, if I could beat that thing, I'd just go ahead and beat Demon King.
Let's not aim too high and keep looking for items that match my power level.
